IDENTIFICATION OF PATTERNS IN COD BEHAVIOUR
Theme is being used in an ongoing collaborative project, supported by the Icelandic Research Council, between The Icelandic Marine Research Institute, PatternVision, University of Iceland, University of Akureyri, Icelandic Maritime Administration, and VST Consulting Engineers to analyze the behaviour of tagged cod in Icelandic waters.
For this project the research team will develop a system for TLM location of DST-tagged fish, based on a database over the characteristics of tidal movements around Iceland. The Icelandic Maritime Administration and VST possess such a database but for use with TLM it has to be developed further.
New knowledge and a new instrument for research on behaviour of commercial fish stocks are among the possible yields of this project in addition to upgrading the tidal model of the Icelandic Maritime Administration.
